This Island temple is not a place to make your pleasure trip. This is a Hindu temple fully devoted to the Nagapoosani Amman Deity which is a place for worshiping by Hindu religious people. Flight tickets can be booked now to travel here. Colombo Jaffna Intercity Express Trains and A/C Trains can be booked before 30 days only. Jaffna Airport is functioning as an International airport. flights to and from India are operating in the Jaffna Airport.
Currntly, train service between Colombo and Jaffna is operating at the speed of 120 Km/h.
Passengers can reserve their seats for the Colombo to Jaffna trains via the online booking facility within 30days of their travelling date.
It is compulsory for the passenger to provide Her / His NIC / Passport Number to be printed in the rserved train ticket from this year 2025.
Devotees are requested NOT to wear expensive jewels for the festival
Additional bus and boat services are arranged for the transport on the road and sea.
Mobile phone usage, Video and Camera are prohibited in the temple viscinity.

Navratri Festival in the year 2025 will be celebrated from 22nd September, 2025. It will be celebrated for 9 days. And this Navarathiri festival Vijaya Dasami celebration will be celebrated on the final day on 02nd,October 2025, Thursday. Its last day festival is also known as Dashahara or Vijayadashami in India.
Under Nainativu Sri Nagapoosani Amman Temple management, Puvaneswary Wedding Hall is being offered to the general public for wedding functions. It was ceremonially opened on 11th of December 2022. This Hall is popular with the local and visiting people.
If you leave from Jaffna in the morning, then you can come back to Jaffna in the evening after worshipping in the temples in Nainativu.

Nainativu History.
This ancient Hindu temple was erected thousands of years back on this Island. Later it was destroyed by the Colonial Portuguese Rulers in the year 1620 CE. In the year 1788, Nagapoosani Amman temple was re-built by the local villagers. This Nainativu (Nagadeepa) is located 35 Km from the southern cost point of India and 30Km from the Jaffna Town. Devotees from India used to visit this Nagapoosani Amman temple by boats, till the passport system was enforced between India and Sri Lanka.
