Watch sunset at Pannai Bridge while you are visiting Jaffna. This is one of the best place to spend your evening in peaceful atmosphere. It provides amazing view of the red colored sun from the Kayts road. If you are staying around Jaffna town, as a visitor you have good opportunity to watch the beautiful sunset scene around the Pannai Bridge. There are millions of images are circulating in the internet of this popular Pannai Bridge and sun set. In the evenings you can witness local fishermen's activities too in this sea. Some of them used to go on small boats and used to catch fishes in this lagoon while some of them used to stay in the sea water up to their hip level and used to catch fishes with the "throwing nets". There is no beach available in this area as it is a lagoon. This are gives good view of the famous Jaffna Fort. It offers good sunlight to photograph the second largest Dutch Fort in Sri Lanka that is located on 64 acres of land.
Pannai Bridge which connects the Islands with the Jaffna district is on the left side of the Jaffna fort and around 1.5 Km from the Jaffna bus stand. You can walk up to there or can catch a Tuk Tuk to visit there. Best idea to visit the Jaffna Fort first and have a look around it. Then walk towards the Pannai road to watch the sunset. Most of the days you can view bright Red sun except on the rainy days in December. Near the large water tubes that connects the sea some fishermen used to stay there and catch fishes through nets that are fitted on a large pole. Here you can find different ways of catching fishes by the local fishermen. of course you can buy this freshly catched fish after bargaining with the fishermen.

On both side of the road once you enter from the landline you will see calm sea on both sides. Reach their by 5:30 pm and get a good position and put your headphones and start to listen your favorite music and wait for the sunset to happen. Large red sun going down the Horizon is a spectacular view that you won't forget when you think of Sri Lanka and Jaffna.
