2:08 PM 06/06/2018

Social Media Banned in Sri Lanka? No, currently they are not banned or blocked. Lot of people are searching through the search engines from all over the world to see if there is such ban in Sri Lanka.

Currently Sri Lanka is one of the true Democratic countries in the world. In the month of March 2018, some bad elements had used this free to speech and express facility through the social media to create communal unrest. But in time the Sri Lanka Government took necessary action and blocked people from accessing Facebook, WhatsApp and Viber through SLT. And in the mean time it had requested the mobile phone service providers to block them.

As of today Social media is not banned in Sri Lanka.

Volence in the Kandy region is seized and the Government had allowed the Facbook, Whatsapp and Viber messengers to operate Island wide. So the visiting tourists can use them as usual while they are staying in Sri Lanka. Skype is not affected at all and its services are being carried out normally. Officials from Facebook were in Srilanka and had talks with the Sri Lanka Government officials on how to control the posts in the Facebook.

It is surprising news that during these Apps and services were blocked, the Government controlled SLT made millions of Rupees of profit. Because people were using the normal IDD facility during that period in Sri Lanka, thus their income increased.

So here by we inform the country is in normal path and the tourists can come over here and can enjoy their stay as usual without any hassles. Business are operating as normal and the transport system is back to normal level.
