Social Media Ban in Sri Lanka?

Social Media Ban in Sri Lanka, This is the current question searched in the search engines all over the world.

Currently Sri Lanka is one of the true Democratic countries in the world. In this month of March 2018, some bad elements from here had used this free to speech and express facility through the social media to create communal unrest. But in time the Sri Lanka Government took necessary action and blocked accessing Facebook, WhatsApp and Viber through SLT. And in the mean time it requested the mobile phone service providers to block them.

Social media is not banned in Sri Lanka except the Facebook which was temporarily blocked. It is too expected to be back to normal by this week end.

As of today the violence in the Kandy region is seized and the Government had allowed the Whatsapp and Viber messengers to operate Island wide. So the visiting tourists can use them as usual while they are staying in Sri Lanka.

Skype is not affected at all and its services are being carried out normally.

The popular Facebook was blocked due to lot of fake messages and videos were shared through it and it influenced the violence in the affected areas. Now Officials from the Facebook are in Srilanka and they are having talks with the Government officials on how to control the posts and when to start the Facebook back to normal.

It is surprising news that during these Apps and services were blocked the Government controlled SLT made millions of Rupees of profit.

So here by we inform the country is in normal path and the tourists can come over here and can enjoy their stay as usual without any hassles. Business are operating as normal and the transport system is back to normal level.
